Product: SheaMoisture African Black Soap Foaming Facial Wash and African Black Soap Problem Skin Toner

Size: 7.8 oz, 4.2 oz

Recommendation: 4.5/5 stars

Where to Purchase: Target or Amazon

The last few years have been an unbelievable nightmare with my skin. I started noticing about two years ago how my breakouts were becoming more frequent. I even started developing cystic acne (gross)!

Finding the right skin care products have definitely been a huge journey. I went through Aveeno, micellular face wash, plain dove soap, and even Burt’s Bees but nothing seemed to help my skin settle down. Instead, I was catching breakout after breakouts and had disgusting oily skin at the end of each day.

But after I started reading up about which natural skin care would work best for my sensitive skin, I came across Shea Moisture Foaming Face Wash and Toner. I had been using Shea Moisture hair products for a few years now and I absolutely loved the way the left my hair soft and frizz-free. But after I tried their African Black Soap bar on my face, I was hooked!

Price Range

Amazon: $$

This product comes in a little higher at price than at Target. It costs roughly $16.99 from various sellers.

The toner is significantly cheaper at $8.23.

Target: $

At Target, this product is definitely more affordable at $10 for 7.8 oz.

The toner doesn’t differ much in price from Amazon at $8.29.

The Foaming Facial Wash

African black soap, bamboo charcoal and aloe.

The Problem Skin Toner

What I loved

After my skin cleared up from the soap bar, I wanted to see if there was an easier method. This is where the foaming face wash comes in. I picked this product up at Target on a whim. I was hopeful that it would give me the same desired effect as the bar soap.

It definitely did not disappoint! After using it for two weeks, my skin started looking lighter. My skin tone evened out more and my face was brighter and full of life.

I would also like to note that I used this product with the SheaMoisture skin care toner and aloe vera.

What I Didn’t Love

I have to say, as much as this product will probably be my go-to skin care product, I have a few things I didn’t like about it.

The first one being that is would make my skin a bit dry after using the toner. I found that I had to continually use moisturizer right after the toner because a lot my acne would have dry skin on it.

The second thing I did not love about this product was the smell of the toner, it was pretty strong. That being said, I would also like to note it did contain tea tree oil which in of itself is a pretty strong smelling oil.

Overall Recommendation

I have to say that Shea Moisture has the best skin care product line I have ever tried. I love the foam facial wash, it was super fun to apply to my face and felt amazing after rinsing.

If you have oily skin or suffer from constant breakouts, I definitely recommend this product. It works perfectly for removing excess oil, dirt, and detoxifying your skin.
